BE - GIRL
Mentorship Program

Apply by October 24. Quick 5 minute application. Make a difference 2–4 hours/month.

Our Mentorship Program

A mentorship program that connects young Black girls ages 10–16 with caring, skilled volunteers who help them build confidence, discover career possibilities, and grow toward leadership. Our program is designed to be flexible, safe, and impact-driven: short monthly commitments from mentors create long-lasting benefits for mentees.

Matches are made based on interests and goals — whether a girl wants to learn about Finance, STEM, Fashion Design, the Arts, Entrepreneurship, Community Service & Leadership, or Mental Health — and supported by structured orientation, ongoing check-ins, and resources for both mentors and mentees.

Our Goals

Support girls in gaining confidence, developing career pathways, and forming lasting connections.

Increase mentor–mentee matches within the next 12 months to expand access to one-on-one support for girls ages 10–16.
Improve mentee confidence and skill outcomes so that participants achieve measurable growth after six months.
Strengthen mentor retention by implementing training and support that raise 6‑month mentor continuation rates to higher.

What Mentors Do

Mentors share professional knowledge and real‑world experience, help mentees set short‑ and long‑term goals with practical action steps, and offer guidance on academics, career pathways, and life skills like time management and budgeting. Mentors also introduce mentees to networks and opportunities—such as shadowing, workshops, or internships—and plan simple, meaningful activities or projects tailored to each mentee’s interests.

Mentors model professional behavior, healthy boundaries, and respectful communication while working closely with program staff to ensure safety and progress. They complete required orientation, background screening, and training, report concerns as needed, and commit approximately 2–4 hours per month (virtual or in‑person) to meetings and program activities, providing steady support that helps girls grow in confidence and explore future possibilities.

Why You Should Join

Joining this mentorship program gives you a chance to grow with purpose—whether you’re a young girl looking for guidance or an adult ready to give back. For mentees, the program provides consistent, one-on-one support that builds confidence, sharpens practical skills, and opens doors to future careers in fields like STEM, finance, arts, fashion design, entrepreneurship, and mental health.

The program supports mentors with screening, orientation, and ongoing resources, so you can focus on meaningful relationship-building while knowing you’re working in a safe, structured environment.

Our Story of Success

Few words about us our impact.

When Asha arrived at BE-GIRL at age 13, she was quiet, unsure, and juggling a new life in Canada. Her family had recently immigrated, and Asha struggled to find places where she felt seen and understood. She signed up for Week 2 (Women in Trade and Entrepreneurship) because she liked working with her hands and wanted to try something different.

Community and Support BE-GIRL’s mentorship didn’t stop at technical skills. Asha had conversations about goal-setting, saving money, and balancing school and work. She connected with other girls who shared similar experiences.
